    1) Because the lifetime of the excited state follows an exponential curve behavior.

    2) The probability of gamma ray emission is higher along the direction of the nuclear spin, which coincides with detectors 1 and 3 alignment, therefore the number of events detected will be higher than for detectors 1 and 2.
