J = 0 level: total angular momentum is minimal ( J = |L–S| = 0) –> L and S parallel in opposite directions.
J = 1 level: either L or S is 0 –> L and S are perpendicular.
J = 2 level: J = |L+S|= 2 –> L and S should be parallel and pointing in the same direction.
