Lowest-energy orientation of the dumb-bell

For the 3 cases, I think the following:
– alpha > 0 : lowest energy obtained when dumb-bell is parallel to the z-axis
– alpha = 0 : because the quadrupole term is zero, thus the orientatioin has no effect on the energy
– alpha < 0 : lowest energy obtained when dumb-bell is in the xy-plane
