    1-a: I believe since nuclear decay is modeled by an exponential decay relating material remaining to the starting quantity, and half-life is the time it takes to reach half of the original material, it makes sense to me that lifetime would be related to this and that the range of possible decay lifetimes would also be an exponentially-decreasing distribution. Maybe they’re completely unrelated, but it doesn’t seem so.

    1-b: Since it is most likely for gamma_1 and gamma_2 to be emitted along the 1-3 axis, it makes sense that detector 3 would see gamma_2 more often than detector 2.
