We want to put the magnetometer in the center of the carousel (in the atom we want to know the hyperfine contribution in the nucleus). Then we can let the child on the carousel and hold the electric ball and bar magnet. The electric ball mimics the charge of the electron, the bar magnet mimics the magnetic contributions of the spin of the electron.
