I unfortunately cannot see the picture. For three values of J, the minimal value will occur when L and S are parallel to eachother, but point in opposite directions.
The maximal value for J has L and S parallel to eachother and pointing in the same direction.
The “intermediate” value for J will occur when L and S are not parallel to eachother.
