    J=2 –> Both L and S need to have a +1 value along the z-axis for example, which does not mean that they point in the same direction
    J=1 –> One of them has to be in the xy-plane, with a zero component along the z-axis and the other one a 1 unit component along the z-axis
    J=0 –> They have to have opposite components along the z-axis, so they have to be along the same axis but opposite direction
